282nd ASSAULT HELICOPTER CO.

Welcome to The Cat House

The National Personnel Records Center (NPRC) has provided the  following
website for veterans to gain access to their DD-214s online:
http://vetrecs.archives.gov/

This may be particularly helpful when a veteran needs a copy of his DD-214
for employment purposes.  NPRC is working to make it easier for veterans
with computers and Internet access to obtain copies of documents  from their
military files.  Military veterans and the next of kin of deceased former
military members may now use a new online military personnel records system
to request documents.  Other individuals with a need for documents  must
still complete the Standard Form 180, which can be downloaded from the
online web site.  Because the requester will be asked to supply all
information essential for NPRC to process the request, delays that normally
occur when NPRC has to ask veterans for additional information will be
minimized.  The new web-based application was designed to provide better
service on these requests by eliminating the records center's mailroom
processing time.

Please pass this information on to former military personnel you may know
and their dependents.

Mike Glessner - Thursday, 04 April 2013 18:47

Glad to see the site up and running again.  Tried a few times in the last few months without success.

Not much gong on right now.

My son passed away from cancer on the 14th of Jan 2013 after serving 4 years on the U.S.S. Independence in the Gulf.  We took his ashes back home to Hawaii in February and took him out on canoes and spread his ashes.

After spending 6.5 years in Vietnam including 3.5 years in Danang and Marble Mountains with I Corp Avn Co (Prov), the 172nd and 282nd, seem like I should have gone first.

Hope everyone else is doing will.

Nice to have you all back.

I received an email from Phil Marshall who informed me that one of our ships is being restored. The tail number is 64-14049. You can go to this link and check out a little of the history of the ship. The link is: http://www.americanhuey369.com. If you would like any more info I guess you could email Phil at dmz.dustoff@yahoo.com.

Pleas write back. And thanks agin Ray for hooking me up with this Web Sight. Dennis (Tin Bender )

Wow, like Tom Pullen said, great job and glad to be able to see how everybody is doing. Last Fall we lost a member from my hometown, Dick Dwyer. I flew a lightship mission with him in early 1969 and he rotated soon after. I was sent a video from a friend about Lam Son: Military Channel   http://www.military.com/video/operations-and-strategy/vietnam-war/vietnam-in-hd-operation-lam-son-719/1270776590001/ there are a few pictures of the 282nd AHC ships. I guess that's where our old Huey #529 still is.
