Brothers, we lost our great Brother, Ronnie "Ron" Snyder (71 Pilot BC 13 on October 3, 2025. Please keep his family in your prayers, Rest in Peace Brother.
Happy Veterans Day America. Today we need to stop for a minute and thank all the men and women for their service to our country. It doesn't matter what their duty was, they did their job, as we all did. While you are out today and you see a veteran, shake their hand or give them a hug and thank them for their service. To my Brothers of the 282nd AHC, I want to personally thank you for your service and I am proud to have served with many of you. Have a Happy Veterans Day. Welcome Home Brothers.
Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to the family of Robert "Bob" Edelheit (67-68 Pilot BC 26) who passed away October 4, 2025. Rest in Peace, Brother.
Ryan, first thank you for your service and sorry for the loss of your grandfather. We do not have your grandfather on our roster. This is not unusual not to have someone on our roster due to many reasons. Your grandfather never contacted us so we can add his name, address, when he served with the 282nd and what year. I will ask around if anyone knew your grandfather and let you know.
Hello Cats,
In my grandfather's things left behind he had a wooden certificate of appreciation from the Alley Cats. All I know is that he served in Korea and then Vietnam as a helicopter mechanic and safety inspector. Upon retiring he worked civil service at Ft. Rucker as an inspector until he passed from cancer in 1989-90. Anyways, I am now stationed in Korea, also working on helicopters and was wondering if anyone around knows anything about his service?
His name was Charles "Charlie" L. Hanna.
Thank you for keeping this site around, this kind of history is so easy to get lost.

It is with deep sadness I report to everyone the passing of our great brother Al Sauter (69-70 Gunner AC) yesterday October 10, 2025. Please keep his family in your prayers. Fly high Brother and may he Rest in Peace.
I have just been notified of the passing of our brother William Atkinson (66 Pilot) on June 13, 2025. Please keep his family in your prayers. Rest in Peace Brother.
I finally remembered the platoon sergeant that was shorter than me, very bald and greying hair at the time..........Sgt Moreland.........one hell of a platoon sergeant.
Some of the guys I flew with were some of the best friends I have ever had. Ron Lovell who extended his tour as I did so we could fly together was who I considered my best friend. We had some good times and some bad times together. I remember Mike Curtain, and Danny Beck with very fond memories, they played a couple dirty tricks on me that I look back on at times and laugh at the actions. Can't remember who our platoon sergeant was at the time but I remember him as an older, bald headed sergeant that I grew to greatly admire. I read these messages from members before and after me and it makes me smile, they were all great.
God bless all the members of the Black Cats and AlleyCats
