Tucker ,Beck , Steve any many others, I had forgot so much and kinda of just been in hiding from my past. Don't know why ,but I guess that's why so many other bro's don't keep in contact with anyone. SO ALL I GOT TO SAY IS TO ALL OLE BLACK CATS -- COME OUT COME OUT WHERE EVER YOU ARE. Lord permitting I will be in Gergia. A big thanks to all who worked so hard to keep everyone together, You all know who you are. A extra big thanks

My father Delta F Schoonover served 282nd assault  helicopters 212 battalion, in DanNang in 1968. He passed away Aug 20th 2013. I have his pics and would love to talk with anyone that served with him. I know some names he mentioned was Buddy Perez, Ledger who was his crew chief. Dad did speak much about his service there, but I would love to do a record of his service. I was 8 when my daddy came home and remember well. I am so proud of him and to all you guys who serviced. You and He are my heros.

Lynn, Sorry to learn that your father passed away. I have info on a Black Cat named Ledger, but I don't think he served with your father. I do have info on Buddy Perez and if you shoot me an email I can give you his information. My home email is krayjenn@verizon.net. Please put in the information line the topic, because I have the habit of deleting emails if I don't know who they come from.

I am writing my second book about the fighting around Khe Sanh in 1968. My first book, A Patch of Ground: Khe Sanh Remembered, was published in 2005. I am also a Marine veteran of that fighting.

This new book centers around an incident that occurred near Hill 881S (at AMS map coordinate XD 772 440), about 5 miles west of Khe Sanh base, on  6 July 1968, when Lance Corporal Thomas P. Mahoney III was killed and, due to heavy fighting, his body was left behind.

I have recently received information from two former Marines who served with Mahoney who distinctly recall being told by the officer who filed the official report of Mahoney's loss that sometime in the days following his death an army chopper with the call sign "Black..."  successfully retrieved the remains from the hill. This mission could have taken place anytime from 7 July on. As such, I am trying to locate someone from the Black Cats who may have knowledge  of that mission, if, in fact, it occurred.  Thanks, Mike Archer
