Beverly Hill Jacobs - Wednesday, 23 December 2015 02:10

I want to thank all of the Black Cats that attended the funeral of Billy David Hill.  I did not get to meet everyone, even tho I wish I could have.  I especially want to thank those that went to meet Billy David's father after the ceremony.  It is with great sorrow that I have come to tell you Mr. Hill passed away today in my arms (Dec. 22 ) at 2:24 p.m.  Only 5 days after the funeral of his son.  He would have been 92 the 9th of January.  I truly do believed that he was waiting for his son to be returned and when that happened, he was ready to go.  Thanks to everyone.

Cindy Schumacher, wife of David, has informed us that David passed away this morning, 12-13-15. His heart gave away due to complications from COPD. He will be buried with his Black Cat cap on his head, Cindy says. He really enjoyed going to his first Black Cat reunion in Columbus, GA. in October. Funeral arrangements are still pending, but he will be buried in the Canton National Cemetary. On behalf of the 282nd our condolences to the Schumacher family and may you rest in peace Brother.

Billy D. Hill, MIA Jan 21 1968 at the Old French Fort in Khe Sanh, has been recovered and positively identified by DNA according to his cousin, Judy Hill. DPAA told the family that a bone collector from Quang Tri Province was caught at the airport with Bill's partial remains and they were turned over to US officials in 1989 with no information. Funeral plans are incomplete, but planned for December 17th, Bill's birthday, in Killeen, Texas. All Black Cats welcome. Judy has asked for personal stories from anyone who knew Bill personally. Contact me for her email address.
